Observant Chorleywoodians woke to find 4 vandalised planters along The Parade on Saturday 7th June with plants spattered across the pavements.

By mid-morning three volunteers independently turned up with trowels, dustpan, brushes and watering cans. Our thanks to India Rasoi and Café Brew for filling and refilling the watering cans and to Marion Price-Davies and others for their gardening efforts.

CRA’s very own Miss Marple contacted the owner of the only visible CCTV. Although not set to record the detail required, the timing of the vandalism in the early hours suggested animal rather than human, with the odds on fox rather than badger, trying to dig out under-planted bulbs. It has been suggested the planters dust chilli powder around the bulbs next time they plant out.

The plant tubs are sponsored by local businesses, planted up by volunteers from Chorleywood-in-Bloom and water is supplied into their tanks by Chorleywood Parish Council.
