Roadworks and traffic control is unfortunately necessary to allow for repairs and improvements to the cabling and pipework for our homes and businesses.
But is everything possible being done to minimise disruption to the traffic on our already overloaded roads?
Some recent works on the A404 Chorleywood Road would indicate not. Two-way traffic control was kept in place on this very busy road for several days after the works were completed. When this was taken up by with Herts County Council the response was that it had been inspected and was within the period approved for the works. And crucially there had been only one report to them of traffic delays!
So if you are experiencing delays because traffic control is in place when not required, please report it to HCC using Highways – contact us | Hertfordshire County Council or Email the Highways service. Let them know so hopefully they get the message and will do something about it.
P.S. At the time of writing there is another set of traffic lights on the Chorleywood Road causing delays, with the “roadworks” on the pavement only and looking complete with no work going on. |
