Chorleywood Primary School is a very successful local school that puts the children at the centre of everything they do. The school was graded ‘outstanding’ at the last Ofsted inspection. For any school to be successful it needs to have an active governing board, who support the school and help drive its strategic planning. A background in education, a formal education or being a parent is not necessary. The aim is to build a diverse group of local people from across the community that can bring valuable skills and a fresh perspective, so that every child is given the opportunity to reach their full potential.  All you need is some enthusiasm, capacity and an interest in the local community.

Being a governor does come with responsibilities, a time commitment, including attending meetings, mandatary training and document reading. Seeing the school go from strength to strength and being part of a friendly, successful team, forming and driving the strategic plans is most rewarding.
