Something new is brewing at Café On The Common, where visitors can now enjoy coffee made by the ‘Rolls Royce of coffee machines,’ thanks to a donation by the Costa Foundation.
The Costa Foundation, which provides education for children and young people in coffee-growing communities, has given the café a state-of-the-art Astoria Espresso machine.
The foundation has also trained Mission EmployAble baristas to use the machine at its HQ in Basildon, Essex, home to one of the largest coffee roasteries in Europe.
Vanessa Rousseau, Mission EmployAble head of charity operations said: ‘We are delighted by this donation, which will allow our interns to perfect their milk steaming, latte art and coffee blending skills to make delicious coffee.’
Café On The Common uses Redemption coffee, which is roasted in HMP The Mount, Bovingdon as part of a training scheme to help prisoners find work on their release.
