The Great Stink – light at the end of the tunnel?

We’re so sorry for the residents who suffered Chorleywood’s Great Stink 2024/25. Thames Water treated the many reports as isolated incidents, they didn’t see the big picture!

After many months, and lots of nagging from us, TRDC and our new HCC Cllr Louise Price, the cause has finally been found. It’s fast-flowing poo diverted here from Amersham, where the main sewer keeps bursting.  

Thames Water have promised to stop diverting extra sewage through Chorleywood. Whenever they stop, we can all smell the roses again! There was a worrying but brief smell last Monday morning, thankfully now gone. Finally, it looks like there’s light at the end of the tunnel, instead of Amersham poo!
