Email Scam – “WebFiling is moving to GOV.UK”

Companies who use the WebFiling service provided by Companies House will need to use the GOV.UK One Login to sign into their account from 13th October 2025. This affects companies of all sizes and you can find out more about this at GOV.UK here.

Unfortunately this legitimate change is an opportunity for scammers to try to get access to your account.

As an example, I recently received an email with the subject “WebFiling is moving to GOV.UK One Login.” with the appropriate Companies House logo, format and content. Here’s what is looks like …

As you can see, it looks legitimate. However the links will take you to the scammers website which will try to fool you to enter your details including password. And if you are a user of this service you will be expecting an email like this as you are aware of the change, so your guard may be down.
