The first stage of the Community Governance Review is now complete. It covered whether to expand the boundaries of Chorleywood Parish, increase the number of councillors and change the election date to May 2027. Results show a significant majority of respondents supported the proposals, with over 80% supporting the change of the election date.

The Review now enters its second (final) stage with a further consultation of residents. This asks many of the same questions, but refined to reflect the feedback from the first consultation. We are advised that this second consultation is a legal requirement in the process.

We encourage all residents to respond to the consultation, especially to support the change in election date. If the Parish has to go to election in 2026, Parish elections will be out of sync with other local elections for the foreseeable future, costing the parish and local residents about £30,000 per election. Delaying Parish elections will also provide more stability through the Local Plan Examination expected to occur next year.

The consultation is open until 26th February and can be found at https://haveyoursay.threerivers.gov.uk/community-governance-review
