The ‘Café on the Common’ is opening soon.  Every day from 9am to 5pm, the café will be serving delicious homemade breakfasts, light lunches and afternoon teas in a stunning 30-seater café.

Katharine Weston, chair and founder of Mission EmployAble, the charity behind the café says “Our young interns have been training in the café since December and can’t wait to start serving. Because they have mild learning disabilities, their service may not always be as fast as other outlets but they want to do their best and make every visit to the café a special experience. Every customer is also helping our interns prepare for paid employment”.

Café on The Common re-useable cup scheme

As part of the aim to be as sustainable as possible, Café on the Common will be saying no to paper cups. The charity is teaming up with Ecoffee Cup’s reusable cup scheme giving buyers of take-away drinks 3 options:

  • Bring a favourite reusable cup or mug from home.
  • Buy a biodegradable mug from a supply of Ecoffee Cups, in a range of colours.
  • Join the Café on the Common reusable cup scheme. Anyone who forgets their mug can borrow one by paying a small deposit, which will be fully refunded when the cup, lid and sleeve are returned.
