This November marks the centenary year for Chorleywood Memorial Hall and this concert by Chorleywood Music on Sunday 13th November at Chorleywood Memorial Hall will be a very special celebratory afternoon of music!

Sir Henry Wood, who is well known for conducting the Proms for 50 years, lived at Appletree Farm in Chorleywood and was on the buildings committee of the Memorial Hall. As a tribute to Sir Henry’s contribution to this locally iconic building, the concert starts with the overture that opened the Proms season of 1922 – Nicolai’s Overture to the Merry Wives of Windsor.

This is followed by Mozart’s Flute Concerto in G and our soloist is the incredible Ukrainian flautist Sofia Matviienko, winner of the Rickmansworth Young Musician of the Year Competition 2021. The concert finishes with Dvorak’s cheerful 5th Symphony.  Daniel Hogan is the conductor.
