Chorleywood Parish Council’s popular annual charity quiz night and auction on November 23rd at the Memorial Hall was another bumper affair, with 18 teams each representing a village voluntary organisation.

Since this event started 15 years ago it has raised more than £100,000 for local groups, and especially remarkable was the announcement that this year every table would take away £500 for its group. The evening also marked the retirement of organiser Bob Whitney, who received a standing ovation for his superb organisational skills over the years.

As usual, there was a host of first-class auction promises donated by local businesses. These included a flying lesson and the star prize, debenture seats for a day at Wimbledon. For the record, the CRA team was pipped to the quiz title by one point, by Chorleywood Library Volunteers, with Chorleywood in Bloom third.
