Along with Residents’ Associations throughout the London Metropolitan Green Belt, for some time we have been lobbying to convince the Government to change the planning rules to make it clear that Green Belt boundaries should not be changed just to enable councils to meet arbitrary housing targets. We are delighted that the Government has heard this message and has recently issued proposals to clarify the rules by saying “Green Belt boundaries are not required to be reviewed and altered if this would be the only means of meeting the objectively assessed need for housing over the plan period.”.

We hope that Three Rivers District Council will take this fully into account and amend its draft new Local Plan to remove proposals to build in Green Belt across the district – including several sites around Chorleywood.
