Mission EmployAble report that construction of the café within the new Cricket Club pavilion is progressing well, with the roof about to be installed at the time of going to press and completion scheduled for late autumn.  Applications are now being received for 2022/23 supported internships, which start in September, with interviews taking place from May.

Chair and founder of Mission EmployAble Katharine Weston said: “We are thrilled by the speed with which Boom builders are working and looking forward to welcoming new interns in September.  We are also immensely grateful to people of all ages in our community for getting behind this project, right from the start.   In the last four months alone, people have baked cakes, sung their hearts out, competed at Bridge, organised an all-school charities week and donned their sports gear, raising more than £9,400.

Sums raised in past four months:

  • St Clement Danes students’ charity week: £3,003
  • Chorleywood Golf Club  Captain’s Charity: £3,264
  • Ladies’ section of the Golf Club’s online Bridge drive and other donations: £965
  • Community Choir and Christ Church cake concert: £1,167
  • Ricky resident Lucy Fagioli: ran a half marathon on 28 March: £1000 +

After Easter, Mission EmployAble interns will be serving in the Junction café two mornings and two afternoons per week – more details to follow.
