Whilst working on the Memorial Garden on Friday afternoon we noticed that one of the manhole covers was clanking every time a car went over it and that it had sunk on the downhill side, presenting a dangerous 2 inch ridge to any cyclist coming down Shire Lane.

Having reported this to HCC and Hamid Kassrai at Ringway on Monday evening, we were incredibly impressed to see Affinity Water on site by Wednesday replacing the frame and cover to the manhole.  I’m sure many motorists will be gritting their teeth at yet more temporary traffic lights in Chorleywood, but we’re sure you’ll all agree that’s a better sight then seeing some poor cyclist flying over their handlebars!

Many thanks to Hamid and to Affinity for their prompt action. Now we just have to get HCC to sort the bus stop at the top of Colleyland!
