The School on the Common is a history of Christ Church School from its beginnings in 1853, as seen through the eyes of teachers, pupils, parents and governors over the years.  The book also reflects on what it means to be a church school, on changes to what children learn and how they are taught, on the advantages of being located on the Common, and on the changing nature of Chorleywood over this period drawing on the recent u3a book Exploring Chorleywood: a pictorial history.

Dame Gillian Pugh is a former chair of governors of the school.  Published by Rickmansworth Historical Society.  160 pages, 95 photographs.
