Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Spring litter pick on the Common on Saturday 13th April. A special thank you to Simon Severn who stayed for the whole morning and was a terrific help moving all the bags over to the CPC bins.

Once again, we were incredibly lucky with the weather, it was a beautiful morning. Our biggest find to date was a bicycle in the undergrowth!  It’s still in good condition, but had most definitely been abandoned. If anyone has had a silver/grey bike stolen in the last few months, then please contact us and we’ll see if it matches your description.

We managed to sort through the 10 sacks of rubbish to save 5 bags of recycling, not a pleasant job, but well worth doing. It was noticed that there was considerably less litter than usual, which we suspect was due to fewer children walking across the Common during the school holidays.

A special thank you to all of those who regularly go out with their litter pick sticks and bags when out walking or dog walking. We know that you help on the Common, Green Street, the Station Car Park and various other areas and your efforts truly do make a difference. I’m sure sometimes it can be disheartening with bad cases of déjà vu, but please don’t give up!  Meanwhile, let’s all be very mindful and careful not to drop litter, there is no excuse.
