Residents were treated to spectacular views of the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) over Chorleywood in a recent display caused by high levels of solar activity.

For those that missed it, or would like to see them again, there are potentially other opportunities as the sun is at a period of high activity in its 11 year cycle. But no guarantees! You might be interested in AuroraWatch UK which is a free service offering alerts of when the aurora might be visible from the UK. It is run by scientists in the Space and Planetary Physics group at Lancaster University’s Department of Physics.

In the meantime, here are some photos over Chorleywood.
