Exciting news! Lords officially took over the running of the Post Office on Wednesday 18th May.

Sadly this means we’ll no longer see the lovely, welcoming Kaye each day. We wish her well and send our most grateful thanks to Kaye for her friendly and efficient service, providing an important connection for us to be able to send gifts and cards to loved ones we weren’t able to visit in the last two years.

We should also, once again, thank Tilak Patel, MD of Lords, for kindly providing the floor space for the Post Office booth and more importantly for generously agreeing for Lords to take over the running of the Post Office counter themselves, including the notorious PO accounting system.

Initially opening hours will be Mon-Fri 09:00 – 17:00, Sat 09:00 – 12:00, however, once training is complete and a new member of staff has been hired, the hours will become Mon – Sat 08:30 to 17:30 and Sun 10:00 – 16:00.  I’m sure everyone will appreciate these much extended hours.  Anyone interested in working 9am – 4pm, hours negotiable, either full-time or part-time, or possibly even a job share, should apply to Tilak Patel at Lords, Tilak@lordsathome.com

With empty shops in the village, it’s reminded us once again how vital a vibrant high street is for Chorleywood and wherever possible we should use it, or risk losing it.  Our motto that “Chorleywood is as good or as we make it…or as bad as we let it become,” applies to our high street as much as anything in the village.  So let’s engage with our shop keepers, and if there’s something we’d like stocked or think would work better, let’s suggest it? Let’s work with them to get the businesses that we want, that way we all win!
