It was so upsetting to see a mass littering event in Chorleywood’s Parade on Friday 25th September. The schoolchildren were given a half day off, and we’re sad to report some went on a rampage of littering in the afternoon.

After-school littering is a daily problem already, which many residents and our lovely street cleaner Rhonda clean up, but this was unprecedented, a battleground of litter! Sweet wrappers and packets, cans and fast food containers strewn all around the benches and in the flower beds.

We’ve spoken to the Head Teacher of St Clement Danes, and we’re pleased that they took action. The Parish Council is discussing joint initiatives with them to stem littering. We know most Chorleywood residents teach their children to put litter in the bins or take it home, and most children do!

Please can all parents take up this message? Tell them there is no Litter Fairy! Let’s all help keep Chorleywood looking good, rather than relying on hero residents and Rhonda to clean up the litter mess.
