For several nights recently the M25 was closed near Chorleywood, and the diverted traffic was directed to use Solesbridge Lane. It’s hard to imagine a worse choice! The poor residents near the traffic-light junction with the A404 had a motorway’s worth of traffic trying to squeeze through the one-way boxed section, just a few metres from the front of their houses. Sleep was impossible!

We’ve raised this in the strongest possible terms with Herts County Council, and will also raise it with our MP Gagan Mohindra with regard to National Highways’ appalling choice for the signposted diversion. In future, they have to choose larger roads than Solesbridge Lane, even if that means a much longer diversion!
