Over the recent weeks Lisa Stewart from the CRA committee has been even more busy than normal to try to get some of the issues with our roads and pavements resolved.

  • Closed Roads. We’ve had our share! Lisa has kept the local authorities on their toes to improve signage when roads have to be closed, and to get them opened – even partially – as soon as possible.
  • Mini parked on the pavement. Many of you will have noticed the Mini that has been left on the pavement halfway up Green Street. Lisa was sent around the houses trying to report this, but we are now working with the police to get this removed before St Clement Danes’ (SCD) pupils return to school. We’ve pointed out the danger of pupils having to step into the road which has a 60mph speed limit. They now appreciate the urgency of the situation and we are hopeful it will be removed before term starts.
  • Poorly marked crossings. Lisa has also spoken to HCC about the badly faded zebra crossings and approach markings at the bottom of Station Approach and Green Street. We’ve highlighted how this is also a main route for SCD’s pupils to and from school,  and the obvious dangers to pedestrians when crossing points are not clearly visible.
  • Yellow lines are now orange? Lisa is also trying to work out if the new orange lines on Valley Road are the new colour of ‘yellow’ lines, or if someone just got the mix wrong! We very much hope it’s the latter.

Well done to Lisa for her sterling efforts on our behalf!

The Reporting Issues page on our website is a good place to go to report an issue to the relevant authority as it provides links to each of their reporting systems.
