Thank you to everyone who came and supported our litter pick earlier this month. We were a bit short on numbers, but we still managed to collect a depressing amount of litter.
The feedback from the volunteers and the Common Rangers is that people seem to sit on the benches and drop and throw bottles, cans and wrappers where they sit. I witnessed this on the following Monday morning, when I collected a vodka bottle, two plastic bottles, three cans and various wrappers and Pokemon cards around the bench by the Dell between the Memorial Hall and the Bridge Car Park. This had clearly been left since Saturday lunch time.
Please, please can everyone speak to their children and their grandchildren and remind them of the importance of not dropping litter.
Bagging up litter after picnics and leaving these bags by the bins is also no good, since the foxes just tear them to shreds and spread the litter everywhere. Two black sacks were left by the Memorial Hall Car Park bins on Sunday afternoon; please just take your rubbish home with you!
