A report from Johnathan Hemmes-James, the newest member of the CRA Committee, and a recent arrival to Chorleywood …

This Halloween was a delightful reminder of what makes Chorleywood such a special place to live. For the first time, my wife and I took our young children trick or treating with their friends, and what a wonderful experience it was.

Houses were brilliantly decorated, with pumpkins aglow and spooky touches that must have taken real effort and enthusiasm. The generosity of residents was remarkable: buckets of sweets, warm smiles, and a strong sense of community spirit everywhere we went. There was even a rumour that the shops had run out of sweets, such was the level of kindness. Not to mention the amazing costumes worn by children and adults alike – there were even a few dinosaurs roaming the streets.

Whilst Halloween isn’t for everyone, and that is naturally respected, for those who joined in, the evening felt friendly, inclusive, and full of good fun. It was more than just a night out with the kids; it was a lovely reminder of why this area is such a great place to call home. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make it such a magical experience for all the children and the young-at-heart adults in our community.
