CRA recently contacted the Gade and Chorleywood Health Centres to discuss feedback received from residents regarding access to care since the merger. The practice told us they recognise that some residents have experienced challenges with the new triage system for booking appointments. They assure us that they are listening, and improvements have already been made. Telephone calls are now being answered more quickly thanks to increased capacity and the new process.
Note: if you wonder why we can’t still book GP appointments through the NHS app, it’s so that triage form requests can be clinically assessed first, ensuring patients are booked into the most appropriate appointment type; with a GP, Advanced Nurse Practitioner, specialist nurse, or other member of the clinical team. Routine nurse appointments and blood tests can still be booked online.

If you can’t complete the triage form online please phone the practice, they’ll be happy to complete it on your behalf.
The benefits of the new system are:
- Patients can access same day, 1 week, or 2 week GP appointments based on the clinical review of their triage request.
- All patients who need to see a GP can be offered an appointment within 2 weeks where clinically appropriate.
- Patients can still choose to see a GP of their preference; however, this may mean waiting a little longer depending on availability.
Looking ahead, the first Patient Group Meeting as the newly merged practice is on 17th February. They are grateful for feedback, and hope this will be a constructive opportunity to work together, share experiences, and help shape ongoing improvements.
