The Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) was adopted at the TRDC Policy and Resources Committee on Monday 21 July. The plan sets out how the local authority aims to create high-quality, safe and attractive paths for people walking, wheeling and cycling.
We are pleased that TRDC listened to the strong feedback from Chorleywood. The plan as adopted has been updated and it no longer contains the unpopular proposals for:
- a cycle path across the Common
- a one way system on Common Road
- a modal filter at Shepherds Bridge
- a modal filter on Shepherds Lane
Instead it envisages a cycle path from Rickmansworth to Chorleywood along the Chorleywood / Rickmansworth Road (A404) which goes past St Clement Danes to Green Street, and joins the existing cycle path along Green Street to Chorleywood station.
The improvements will be subject to further detailed review by Hertfordshire County Council and will move forward depending on funding and when other works, e.g. road surfacing, are scheduled. As detailed designs are developed, there will be more focused and tailored consultations in local areas. This means communities will have further opportunities to share their thoughts and help shape the changes in their neighbourhoods.
