The changes being proposed to the Parish elections and boundaries are related, but not part of, a wider reorganisation of Local Government with District and County Councils being replaced by new Unitary (single level) authorities.

The Government is currently running a public consultation on the various options for this. This consultation runs until 26th March and can found at Local government reorganisation in Hertfordshire – GOV.UK

We will be preparing a short briefing note for residents on the relative advantages / risks of each of the options which we will issue shortly. Hopefully this will help residents in responding to the consultation.

This is the biggest change to Councils for over 50 years, and it is important that residents make the Government aware of their views.
