NHS Hertfordshire and West Essex Integrated Care Board (ICB) will close at the end of this month due to a national NHS reorganisation. From 1 April 2026, responsibility for planning and monitoring NHS services will move to two new organisations:
- NHS Central East ICB, covering Hertfordshire along with Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes and
- NHS Essex ICB, covering the wider Essex area.
Overall there will be 6 new ICBs established across England through the abolition of 12 existing ICBs. There will also be a change in the boundary of an existing ICB.
