The source of the water running down Shire Lane to the Parade from a drain has finally been fixed – more than two months after first being reported.

CRA member Angela Killick repeatedly followed up case references with both Affinity Water and Herts Highways, stressing the running water looked clean. Last week the Affinity on-line map stated they had tested the water and it wasn’t theirs and that they had closed the case and referred it back to Herts. Herts said the case “is out with our engineers”.

Angela again said the leaking water looked clean. Affinity then came and dug up the other side of the road – and hey presto, the drain leak stopped.

A discarded Affinity notice stated ‘burst water main’. It would seem Affinity have lost thousands of litres of clean water over the 2 months. Angela suspects hiccups in Affinity referencing and a dodgy interactive map.

Well done Angela, and thanks to the other Residents who reported this problem.
