At a recent Three Rivers’ Planning Committee meeting we were extremely concerned that in more than one case the committee (both councillors and officers) were dismissive of the Chorleywood Neighbourhood Plan.  Our Neighbourhood Plan was supported by over 89% of votes in the May referendum to adopt it, but the wishes of Chorleywood residents expressed in its policies were ignored in the meeting’s discussions.

Neighbourhood Plans have statutory backing, and should be properly considered as part of the Committee’s decision-making process.  We have made a formal complaint to the TRDC Chief Executive, expressing our concern about what happened at the Committee Meeting.  We thank Councillors Raj Khiroya and David Raw, who strongly supported the Neighbourhood Plan at the meeting.  We will work to ensure that all councillors have a full understanding of the plan, and its legal backing, as part of TRDC’s decision-making process.
