The Community Governance Review looking at the Chorleywood Parish boundaries, the number of councillors and the timing of the next election has now completed. All the measures were approved, with over 85% of respondents agreeing with all of the changes. As a result;

  • The areas of Heronsgate, Stag Lane and Shepherds Lane currently outside of the Parish will join the Parish
  • The area of east Loudwater currently outside of the Parish will join the Parish
  • The number of Parish Councillors will be increased to 19 to reflect the increased size of the Parish
  • The next Parish elections will be held in 2027 rather than 2026.

The last point is particularly pleasing as it will align the Chorleywood Parish elections with all the other Parishes in the district and the new Unitary Authority. This will save the Parish more than £30,000 for each election cycle going forward.

The next stage of the process will be to review the wards for Parish elections to fit in the new areas and to adjust existing wards, if necessary, in the light of these changes. This will happen over the next year so that the new wards will be in place for the 2027 election.
