In February we told you of Affinity Water’s huge project laying a new water pipe from Heronsgate to Bovingdon. The “Great Affinity Water Main” or GAWM for short.

The latest news is that the GAWM has turned the corner into Chalfont Lane, and will march on to cross Blacketts Wood Drive, then over the fields and out of Chorleywood in 2 or 3 weeks’ time. It’s on its way to Bovingdon, and moving fast!

By the time you read this Shire Lane should be open again, with a one-way traffic light system. It should be fully open both ways by Monday. Maybe we’ll even begin a period of no road closures in Chorleywood? A radical prospect, which would be very welcome.
