Our poor Chorleywood commuters have had a tough time this week, the trains have been a horror story of cancellations! Transport for London has issued an apology. In summary, the causes are:

  • Higher than expected train driver attrition. New train operators are coming in so hopefully this will resolve soon.
  • Training all the operators on the next section of the 4LM* project. They’ve reviewed the training programme; next week there will be fewer courses running.
  • Plus issues with the track condition, requiring speed restrictions around Wembley.

As part of 4LM* our whole area will be re-railed over the coming weeks, after which the speed restriction can be lifted.

Hmmm. In other words they are so busy training the train drivers that they don’t have enough train drivers left to drive the trains!  Possibly this could have been spotted in advance and alleviated?

Fingers crossed it’s better next week.

* 4 Line Modernisation, a huge multi-year project to modernise the Circle, District, Hammersmith & City and Metropolitan lines.
