The final AGM of the Friends of Chorleywood Common was held on October 7th, they will be wound up in the next few weeks. It’s poignant, but it’s a sign of their success.

The Friends formed in the 1990s to protect and maintain the Common: clearing out brambles, brash, the ponds, and keeping paths open. Founding chair Mike Warburg was very excited when the Parish Council agreed to employ a Ranger to help with the work.

We now have a team of CPC Rangers who manage the Common ecologically, developing its uniquely varied habitats, and educating our young residents about nature. They do a great job, and FoCC’s mission is now incorporated into the fabric of Chorleywood and its Parish Council.

So the Friends’ last AGM was not so much a wake, rather it was a celebration of the Friends‘ commitment to the Common over more than 3 decades.

Farewell Friends of Chorleywood Common, and our grateful thanks for all you’ve done for Chorleywood!
