In June’s Newsletter we reported the sad sight of the collapsed bench in the Memorial Garden.

This month we are delighted to report that it is back. Looking better and stronger than ever! Residents are able to once again enjoy resting on this popular bench with its view of the Memorial Garden and central Chorleywood.

This amazing transformation is the work of the Chorleywood Community Shedders, a local group launched in September 2024.

The extent of the damage required replacing some parts of the bench and renovating others. Overall the bench has been strengthened and treated so that it will hopefully last a long time. You can see some of the steps involved here.

Thanks go to Robsons Estate Agents who kindly provided electrical power to the large drill needed to fix the bench securely to the paving slabs.

The Chorleywood Community Shedders meets every week in the War Memorial Hall on Common Road in Chorleywood. Their moto is “Meet, Make, Mend” with “Cake, Tea and Chat” definitely being part of each meeting.

To find out more email chorleywoodcommunityshed@gmail.com. You can see what they have been up to on their Facebook and Instagram pages.

We can rebuild it!
