We’re pleased to confirm that TRDC listened to the many residents who objected to several of the LCWIP proposals for Chorleywood. On 15th October TRDC Cllrs agreed to remove the proposed route across the Common, the proposed modal filter on Shepherds Lane under the M25, and the proposed modal filter at Shepherds Bridge. You can see the full announcement here.
Officers will explore extending a cycle route on the A404 up to St. Clement Danes School. We’ve submitted our view that this should not involve narrowing the A404’s traffic lanes.
We’ve also stressed that the simplest, very effective, cycling-friendly measure would be mending the potholes at the edges of our lanes: Long Lane, Shepherds Lane and Berry Lane. Cyclists ride at the edges, and edge potholes cause wobbling, which is very frightening with a vehicle right next to you.
Cllr Stephen Giles-Medhurst, Leader of Three Rivers District Council, said: “The LCWIP represents the council’s commitment to developing sustainable transport options and improving active travel infrastructure and feedback from residents has been instrumental in refining these routes. We have always been clear that [we] will not support routes being imposed that residents did not want.”.
