Seven young people with learning disabilities graduated from the charity Mission EmployAble’s training scheme, in a ‘starry’ ceremony held in the Junction, Christ Church on Thursday, June 27.
The ceremony was attended by Martin and Shirlie Kemp, who are Mission EmployAble Ambassadors, as well as by Gagan Mohindra MP.
The graduates received their certificates from Shirlie ,who praised each intern individually for their talents and hard work.
Each graduate wore a brightly coloured gown and mortar board for the ceremony and helped prepare lunch for the guests, who agreed that the presence of three ‘celebrities’ made a lasting impression on the young people, who were all eager to share their hopes for the future.
‘Our interns have been a joy to know and train,’ said Cass Langham. ‘Several of them have been offered paid jobs already and I know that all of them will be a great asset to any organisation that employs them.’
Places are still available on Mission EmployAble’s supported internship scheme which begins in September. For details: training@missionemployable.co.uk
